Throughout my nursing career, I have come across numerous changes affecting nursing practice; at one point some of them were the most suitable and acceptable methods, but years later they became an unscholarly or unacceptable way of providing patient care. For example, the Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) guidelines have been updated multiple times since I became certified in this skill. Conversely, just comparing the previously accepted acronym "ABC" which stands for airway, breathing, circulation with the current updated one "CAB," the implementation of this significant modification had the most paramount impact on life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
