The aim of my quantitative research project is to discover the obstacles of international student at IPU when communicating in English. After planning the research specifically, three main themes are found carefully by the researcher:
• Participants characteristic.
• Students’ perspective on their English learning.
• Relationship between current study program and the barrier of communicating in English. .
In order to avoid rambling writing, creating specific themes can make the researcher concentrate deeper on analyze.
1) Participants characteristic
After figuring out this theme, an overall description about the habit of communicating in English of IPU international students will be indicated clearly. Firstly, the researchers collect information about the time IPU students use to speak in their mother tongue in IPU New Zealand. Hence, the researcher makes an attempt to discover if IPU students talk in English with people coming from their same countries to practice their communication skills. The frequency percentage will be illustrated by some pie charts to make readers observe the project in an easy way. To be more specific, it is a practical method to express the relative frequency of questionnaire responses. Mean is used to describe the central tendency of all data (Manikandan, 2011). The standard deviation is used in conjunction with mean. Specifically, the mean measures the center of the distribution, while the standard deviation measures the spread of the distribution (Baillie, 1992). By compared with mean, the results of SD will show how spreads out the numbers are. The correlation is a statistical technique used to measure the strength and direction of relationship between two variables.
