Laser surgery is when the laser is focused on the vagina, and burns off the abnormal cells, by doing this it removes tissue to be tested. However you cannot use laser surgery on invasive cancer. Another surgery you can get is a hysterectomy, a hysterectomy is when your uterus is removed. Women can only have a hysterectomy in the first stage of cervical cancer. There is also a surgery called radical hysterectomy, with radical hysterectomy doctors take out the uterus along with tissues next to it. When women have recurrent cervical cancer, they have to have a pelvic exenteration, which is a more extensive operation. This is when all the same organs and tissues are removed, along with the bladder, vagina, rectum, and part of the colon may also be removed depending on where the cancer spreads. There are three vaccines that you can get Gardasil, Gardasil 9 and Cervix. Gardasil works against certain types of HPV which causes 70% of cervical cancer. Females from ages 9 to 26 can be vaccinated with Gardasil. Another vaccine is Gardasil 9, it works the same way as Gardasil, but Gardasil is a little stronger than Gardasil 9. There is also Cervix which is effective against the two main strain of HPV virus that causes cervical cancer. Only females between the ages of 10 to 25 can get vaccinated. Women should also get a pap test every year to check for cervical cancer, normally women start getting Pap test between the ages of 16 to 21.
