The biggest slave trade events happened during the 1800s when developing countries needed people to finish the large amount of work in fields. The business was very profitable, slaves were expensive but durable, and these factors were the key to slave trade flourishing. Slaves didn’t have human rights, they were not human, but more like objects used for profit. In short, slaves were dehumanized into property. Slave owners treated their slaves as their own property, slaves usually died from labor that passed human extremes. Although some died from disease, and furthermore some were beaten and died after that, but the main cause of death was still the high tensed labor. At first when the French arrived, the Haitian people helped the French settle, but the French took Haitian men as their slaves and thought that it was benefiting them. In 1791, the Haitian revolution began, British forces supported the Haitian people and they fought against the French, victory for the Haitians came in the year of 1804. When the French had 75,000 casualties, the Haitian had 200,000 and British had 45,000 casualties, the revolution was worth it because in result they gained freedom from the French colonies. But thinking of the casualties and comparing it to the other countries, Haiti received a great loss in population. The Haitian revolution started because of the mass enslavement of Haitian people, the anger within the Haitian slaves eventually caused the revolution. Though the result was victory, but the consequences were also high. Revolutions in other parts of the world may not have ended in victory, like the Bussa’s revolution and Nat turner’s Rebellion, they both left a huge impact in their countries history but both failed, they might have succeeded in shaking the image of slavery in people’s hearts, but they didn’t end slavery.
