Imperialism is a policy, mostly applied by a nation or strong central government, which practices extensive use of power. It is the practice of extending a country’s authority and power through colonizing other countries, done by the use of military forces. Often done by military means, and mostly ends up in harsh treatment of citizens. Therefore, Imperialism is a great controversial subject that has been debated for many years. Imperialism has been here ever since the fifth century. Throughout the years, imperialism helped build up and shape our contemporary world. Without it our world wouldn’t be the way it is today. Imperialism is the act of colonizing another country, and it can be done for various reasons. The causes of imperialism are mostly for wealth and the desire for resources, spreading religion, belief in superiority, and lastly, political realism.

As a result, political power became more important than ethics and ideals for a lot of countries that seek national security and interests. Therefore, building an empire became crucial for these countries, and authority was seen as a way to fulfill those interests and to provide security.
