Cat's Cradle Writing The novel Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut is driven on the topic of wonder. Wonder is used by everybody at some point in their life. Many people wonder to find information, or just to pass time. Mentioned several times throughout the novel is the Cat's Cradle. From the beginning of the reading, throughout the novel, and even towards the end; there is a lot of talk over the silly game of Cat's Cradle. There is also a lot of talk over the bomb and Ice-Nice.Vonnegut suggests in his novel that wonder pushes people past certain limits.
Towards the beginning of the novel in chapter 5, John was reading a letter Newt Hoenikker sent him. The letter talked about how his father, Dr. Hoenikker would always make a cat's cradle with a piece of string he had. This was a childhood memory of Newt; it was not all that pleasant according to the letter John received. Newt said towards the ending of the letter, "He tried to play with me. Not only had he never played with me before; he had hardly ever even spoken to me."(12) Newt mentioned his father attempted to play with him by making a Cat's Cradle. Dr. Hoenikker got down to Newts height and said, "See the cat's cradle? See where the nice pussycat sleeps? Meow. Meow.(12)

The opinions of benefits and concerns on certain science experiments can go several ways. Of course, those opinions of benefits and concerns would depend on the person. Some science experiments can lead to solutions to certain illnesses; some others can lead to the death of several hundred or even thousands of people. Two science experiments that are mentioned in the novel are Ice-Nine and the Atomic Bomb. Ice-Nine was mostly invented to make jobs easier for soldiers in battle. The wonder that Ice-Nice can accomplish is unreal! In chapter 20, Dr. Breed explains how Ice-Nine works in a nutshell. Of course, after John asked for a simple
