In the workplace, employees often feel that they are over-worked and underpaid. Every employee from high school dishwashers to middle aged executives feel this way from time to time. Workers usually only consider what their employers give them. This includes their salaries, their hours, lunchbreaks, and office space. What employees usually avoid thinking about is what they are taking from the company which they work. Practically every employee steals from their place of work. Although many may say they would never steal from their employers, they may be oblivious to the miniscule things that they steal, but tiny wastes lead to big expenses. Less obvious examples include using the copier for personal reasons, taking a longer lunch break, coming to work late or leaving early, browsing the web when the work day is still in progress, and socializing with coworkers on matters that are not related to the company. Not one person can be one-hundred percent efficient, so there is controversy on the use of cash register honesty. Many employees feel that it is not considered stealing, as long as it is not something as valuable as money.
