Dallas Cowboys
Last season, the Dallas Cowboys ranked 7th in the league in passing yards giving up 260.4 yards per game. Even though the team finished up in the top 10, there are still holes in the secondary in Dallas. During this off-season, the team lost two key players via free agency in Morris Claiborne who signed with the New York Jets and Brandon Carr who signed with the Baltimore Ravens. These two players played a big factor in the Cowboys secondary last season, with the both of them gone the team will have a big hole to fill in the secondary that is where Sherman comes in. With all the news surrounding Sherman and the Seahawks, sending him to the Cowboys would make a lot of sense. The Cowboys have a 1st round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft with the 28th overall pick. Even though the 28th overall pick is not a high draft pick, this year's draft is loaded with talented players that can make an impact and Seattle can someone talented with the 28th overall pick. If both sides can make a trade happen, the Cowboys would be getting a pro bowl corner that can help fill the void in the secondary drastically and Seattle would get another 1st round pick that they can use to build their team for the future as well as compete for a Super Bowl right now since the team is still talented enough to make a run in the playoffs. The biggest problem in the divisional round loss to the Green Bay Packers was the secondary and the team would be improving the secondary with Sherman as the top corner in the secondary along with the other depth corners that they have. New England Patriots On their way to a 5th Super Bowl championship last season, the New England ranked 21st in the league allowing 237.9 per game. For a team that just won the Super Bowl, being ranked 21st in the league in yards allowed per game is not a good sign, thankfully the Patriots are built on offense and a good offense at that. In the off-season, the team signed corner Stephon Gilmore in free agency to improve the secondary that gave up big plays last season. The Patriots are more than likely the best team in the NFL right now, so why would they want someone like Sherman when they already have a decent secondary? The reason the Patriots should at least look at someone like Sherman is because of Malcolm Butler and his contract situation. After the team signed Gilmore to a big money contract, that did not sit well with Butler one bit. Reports came out that Butler was not happy with his current situation with his contract …show more content…
Talks did not go anywhere between both sides due to the fact that either Butler asking price was out of the Saints price range or the team was not willing to give up a 1st round pick back to New England for him. Even though talks have been quiet lately between both teams, do not be surprised if both teams decide to talk again about this deal leading up to the draft.
This trade would make sense if only the team knows that Butler is on his way out and needs to replace him in the secondary and what a replacement would Richard Sherman be. Since the Patriots do not have any 1st round picks at this moment coming up in the 2017 NFL draft, so unless the team is getting a first round pick back for Butler Seattle would most likely want back a second round pick and maybe a draft pick from next year draft to make this trade work maybe throw in a player to make sure this trade goes
