An example will be the case of Phineas Gage this is because Phineas Gage case of brain damage was extremely rare as it is difficult to find people with the exact same part of the brain affected. His case has led to so many contributions to neuropsychology. Also, case studies help details to be collected that would not normally be easily obtained by other research designs. Knowledge that is received from case studies can be used to develop hypothesis that can be used in research. Furthermore, since case studies mostly deal with rare cases, data collected cannot be generalized to the wider population. It is sometimes difficult to find answers or cause/effect from case studies since it is not scientific. Case study is also time consuming, difficult to replicate and often research bias.
