Patient 1 – Cardiovascular A fifty-six year old male was checked into the ER with severe angina (pain in the chest that makes it difficult to breathe caused by poor blood flow to the myocardium) (the middle and thickest layer of the heart wall, composed of the cardiac muscle) (Miller, 2003). The patient admits to waiting until the next morning to hygiene after hyperhidrosis (heavy sweating) during a football game. The discomfort in his epidermis (upper layer of the skin) may be due to dermatomycosis (a fungal infection of the skin) (Gylys, 2003) associated with tinea (ringworm). I have noted some mild hidradenitis (inflammation in the sweat glands) (Gylys, 2003) in both underarms, accompanied by subungual (underneath the finger or toe nails) discoloration in his hands and feet.
