Case Study: MVA Vehicle

Officers were requested to assist Ptlm. Rentschler with a MVA at 709 West Spruce Street. Ptlm. Rentschler requested the assist by radio.

The call was dispatched as a MVA vehicle vs. pedestrian. The caller reported the operator of the vehicle ran over a child and is intoxicated. Once Ptlm. Rentschler arrived on scene he located the operator of the vehicle who fled to the bathroom of his home at 710 West Spruce Street and had locked the door. Once on scene Ptlm. Rentschler advised the male exited the bathroom. Ptlm. Rentschler as well as other Officers on scene (Stamets & Pastucka) detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the male's breath. Ptlm. Rentschler informed me that before I arrived he noticed the alcohol emit from the male's
