In 2014, Huddle House Restaurant was sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for racial harassment. According to the EEOC’s suit, Angela Whitfield and other black employees at the Pine Bluff restaurant experienced racial and offensive name calling from co-workers of the management team. In the event of the employee making a complaint, H2H/ Huddle House failed to take action or address the issue. The regional attorney for the EEOC’s Memphis District office suggested that “the use of racially offensive and derogatory slurs in the workplace is not only inappropriate and morally reprehensible, it is unlawful.
