A large detention pond and a water treatment plant are nearby. The community also has several bus stops, a park, a shopping center and a hospital in the vicinity. In my opinion some of this places are close but they are not close enough for a senior citizen community I’m assuming the residents don’t want to walk for a mile before they get to one of this locations, unless they have some sort of transportation. Also it is located near a collector distributor street that provides a higher traffic area and loud traffic sounds. The community is surrounded by walls and fences which does not allow the residents easy access to leave there complex to take walks and enjoy their surroundings. While the company shares some common aspects of an FOE as described by Raj Sisodia et al. in Firms of Endearment, it lacks a holistic view of its business model and a broad consideration of stakeholders. There are several reasons for its departure from an FOE including; a market focus, availability of resources and the small, disjointed number of employees involved in the company. Santa Cruz Residential Recovery is part of the larger organization Encompass Community Services, an organization that is more of an amalgamation of smaller organizations united under one umbrella organization. Encompass Community Services and all of its various programs serve the local Santa Cruz county area, which includes westside Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Aptos, Capitola, Live Oak, Soquel, and Twin Lakes. The majority of the services offered take on a patron-client type relationship as is typical of most non-profit organizations. The specific program I will be working with, Santa Cruz Residential Recovery, has an interesting patron-client relationship as the clients live in the facility full time and essentially treat it as their own home -- they clean, cook, and partake in typical household duties as part of their recovery plan.…

During the 1880s, the Canadian federal government felt so threatened by the Indigenous inhabitants that they started a cultural genocide by establishing Residential schools with the intent to destroy the Indigenous culture. The negative impact of these institutions continues to affect the Indigenous community till now. In response, the government of Canada, in cooperation with the FNMI community, initiated the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement (IRSSA). The procedures implemented by the IRSSA has, to some extent, helped Residential School survivors move forward from the horrific event and proves to be a testament of the government’s mission in acknowledging its effects on the Indigenous community. In the DC area, there has been a fifty percent decrease in the amount of affordable housing since 2000, and rental rates have increased significantly (Mukherjee, 2013). There has also been a decrease in funding for Section 8 vouchers. Pathways to Housing DC has helped many homeless people with mental illnesses secure housing.
