Case Type
I believe the CVS: Promoting Drug Adherence case follows the elements of an evaluations case. This case in particular focuses on the decisions made by Foulkes surrounding drug adherence through new programs. Additionally, this case already provides us with the decision CVS chose to make, however, an analysis of this decision is not given and therefore a personal evaluation and analysis is crucial. Ultimately, the question is how to enhance the Pharmacy Advisor Program to achieve better results in the future.
Problem Statement
The problem statement for this case asks how Foulkes can show to the company’s stakeholders how investing in adherence would have a valuable and positive impact on CVS Health’s profitability. To improve the Pharmacy Advisor Program CVS can start by recommending generic drugs to patients with any of the three conditions. Each of these ailments can be controlled by generic medication. Additionally, by advising patients to use generic drugs not only will it save money for the patient but it will also generate a greater profit for CVS. This is because the profit margin of generic medication is higher than that brand-name drugs.
Introducing a new application through the Android and Apple market can have a significant improvement on this program. With a majority of the U.S. owning a smartphone, having an app that helps them track their medication can also benefit the adherence program. Between daily notifications to take pills and sections for tips for users of these different drugs, the app can make something as simple as taking pills more interesting and
