Mr. Phillips was requested by Charlie Craig and David Mullins (a same-sex couple) to bake a wedding cake for them. According to Mr. Phillips, who is a born-again Christian, he cannot and will not design desserts for same-sex weddings. Mr. Phillips cites his Christian beliefs in that it would be a violation and rebellion again God to do so. Phillips to continue to deny services to same-sex couples based on his religious beliefs could open the door for other businesses to use other biases as a screen to hide behind. Every day there are cases of discrimination, most that are never reported. In this particular case, the voices of Charlie Craig and David Mullins have been heard and they have been vindicated, like it or not. Mr. Phillips has indicated that he will continue to take his case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. Mr. Phillips can continue to deprive his customers of his wedding cake creations and his business of the revenue stream that would keep his business viable, or he can welcome new same-sex clientele and be a part of their happy and special celebrations. This choice truly is his, and he should keep in mind that in the Bible, the word of God, is that we should love one another, as God loves us (John 13:34). There isn’t a clause that says, unless you’re homosexual and then all bets are off.
