I started off wanting to be a banker because of my skills in handling and monitoring my money, then I wanted to be a lawyer (I still haven’t figured out why). At about fifth grade, I thought I wanted to be a chemist since I was taking many more science classes. When I moved to Benson in sixth grade, I paused for a bit and really thought about what I wanted to do. My sophomore year in high school, I joined Business Professionals of

I have felt so confused and overwhelmed not knowing what I am going to do with the rest of my life. If someone has not already thought of this, they most likely will because the majority of people have to have serious questions based upon what they want to make a career out of. However, some people have always known what they feel passionate about and can make a career out of. Ever since I was young, I have always loved houses from interior to exterior and even structurally with floor plans. In third grade, I decided I wanted to be an interior designer and it was not until last year, my junior year in high school, that I figured out it would not be the best job field for me.…

Growing up I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do as a profession. No inclination of something that amazed me or pushed me toward it. I eventually chose what I thought would be a good stable career simply because it would be a financially good choice but it never seemed like something I could stick with or love. I discounted anything from the medical field because everyone was going there and I didn't want to be a lost number of people rushing to the same career, I wanted to be a little different.…

Throughout my years in school, I probably said I would have twelve different careers - mostly the ones my friend said she would be - but it was nothing I took seriously until high school. I knew my hobbies, my interests and I considered myself talentless, but I still did not know on what route to take. However, I had no doubt that college was my path to success and that I would eventually find my passion along the way. I was an advanced filmmaker at The Guthrie Center where I was awarded for my P.S.A on my scoliosis experience at The Houston Public Library’s “Reel Teen Film Festival” in the spring of 2013. I enjoyed producing short films and knew I had some sort of gift for it, but not enough to call it a talent.…

I always viewed my academics as a step forward to my career, which is why I always strived to receive A’s and B’s. I never really viewed extracurricular activities as a step closer to achieving my main goal. I just enjoyed participating in clubs such as FFA, Octathlon, and Caribbean heritage society. I began to think how these clubs have molded me into who I am now. They changed me into an open, accepting, outgoing person, and helped me with deciding to become a teacher and soon a counselor.…

“Strive for excellence!”, “Keep pushing yourself to the best of your ability.” , and “Have heart.” These are just a few of the many words of encouragement my dad would tell me as I grew up. At the time, I thought he was only referring to the sports I was playing. Whether it was gymnastics, softball, basketball, or volleyball, he was always pushing me to be the best I could be. I never dreamed these words would mean so much to me and ensue me to aspire my accomplishments thus far and the accomplishments I strive for in the future.…

“Don’t consider yourself a real physician except when you practice medicine at its best” with these words, Dr Hassib, my medicine professor ended our final lecture in medical school. At that time, all I thought he meant was that I needed to excel in my final exams and secure a position in a good residency program. His words were always in the back of my mind though, and indeed, I graduated with the Highest Honours and got accepted in the best residency program in Egypt, Cairo University. At that point, I thought I had reached the peak of my dreams, but it took me some years to realize that my journey didn’t even begin yet.…

Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals. During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines. Fascinating as it sounds, I was always intrigued to understand why fruits and vegetables spoil or often cause food poising in humans. Although, when I questioned my mother why these fruits spoil, she responded it was due to "little bugs," which was not a sufficient response.…
