3. Although a career in psychology is not my long-term goal, I believe it could be useful in many fields of law, and the subject is something I genuinely enjoy learning and find interesting. I have also considered a few of the options of the vast array of careers in psychology, which I think can provide me with a safety net if I decide against law. One of these paths that I have considered is engineering psychology. In an increasingly technological world, it is paramount that the link between humans and the products they use is as seamless as possible, so that technology can be easier to understand and used more effectively to accomplish our goals. Because of my employment at the LSU Psychological Services Center, I am surrounded by people with a multitude of different goals and ambitions within the field. There are also psychologists who specialize in treating more abnormal or serious disorders and psychiatrists who have gone to medical school and can prescribe drugs and treat a wider range of mental illnesses. In Louisiana, a psychologist may earn the ability to prescribe some medicines without attending medical school by taking further classes. Although clinical psychology may be what comes to mind for the majority of individuals when pondering careers in psychology, there are so many more possibilities. As mentioned in my previous essay, a career in engineering psychology can include designing products to make them more effective and easier to use, and a social psychologist can help a business by hiring and training employees, making policies that benefit both the employer and the employee, and resolving the many conflicts that can spawn in the workplace. Another interesting career that people may not think of is a forensic psychologist. This is an individual closely tied to the court system that can provide psychological evidence

When I hear the word psychology, the first thing that pops into my mind is an image of a clinical psychologist asking questions to some guy laying on a chaise and later determining that some type of trauma in his life is causing him to act a certain way or think certain thoughts. I’ve always categorized psychology as a science but never did I imagine just how much of a science it really is. Although I wouldn’t rank it over sciences such as biology or chemistry, I consider psychology to be a fundamental aspect of scientific studies.…
