The Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination format is 110 questions multiple choice, done online interactively, and tests basic physical principles and instrumentation knowledge essential to sonography professionals and students. The cost for the SPI examination is $200. However, the test result is a PASS or FAIL decision. In addition, a scaled score will be received, ranging from 300 to 700. A scaled score of 555 is required to pass all ARDMS examinations. Qualifications to take the second exam, Adult Echocardiography (AE).
