The trade-off to purchasing specialized technologies or components of a cloud infrastructure is the burden of integrating each of those technologies to develop a customer-facing solution. Developing such a complex solution with a high expectation of quality would require a significant amount of time and therefore expense. The greatest opportunity for developing this solution in-house has passed, thanks to increased competition in the cloud market.
