During my Capstone lesson we largely talked about things that I already know, although the lesson caused me to look at these things from an angle that I had not previously. We looked at our weaknesses and strengths and what we should do considering this information. I have thought about these things before, however I have never thought of how relevant it is to the Air Force and how it impacts an Airman’s professional life.
The most direct consequence of knowing your weaknesses and strengths as an airman is getting the day to day mission done with limited mistakes. For example, if a student Airman had a problem with organization, being aware of this would reduce the chance of this Airman struggling to keep his homework organized and turned in on time. Similar things can be done to capitalize on strengths. Being conscious of your strengths allows you to choose the correct way to get things done. An example of this would be if a student struggled understanding a topic in school, but was someone who usually liked to be prepared, the student would be able to find the extra time to study and figure out the topic they did not understand. Knowing what you do for those around you brings tremendous confidence and motivation. Working as a team is how the Air Force gets things done anyway, so that is why I believe the Capstone lesson has put such an emphasis on finding out how you help to get the mission done, and putting Airmen in the right place mentally to better do things and reach goals in the future.
