Introduction of the Canadian Mobile Industry Nowadays, mobiles become the necessity of peoples’ daily life. People keep their cell phone with them wherever they go and whatever they are doing. People communicate with each other on phone with SMS, mobile applications or through social media platforms when they are on the go. Businesses market and promote their products and services through mobile web; and consumers and purchase online and communicate their needs and wants with their smart phones. According to Langlois, “The 2014 study showed that 55% of Canadians owned a smartphone. In 2015, the penetration rate grew to 68%, representing a year-over-year growth of 24%” (2015), which means that the Canadian smart phone industry is growing significantly. And this increasing trend is obvious especially for people in the middle age range between 2014 and 2015. Smartphone is the major trend in the mobile market; therefore, as a marketer, we must understand how to keep updated to the mobile marketing trend and communicate …show more content…
First, this study indicated that smartphone users used their smartphone in three key locations: on the go, at home, and at work. “Results showed that people tend to use their devices in different ways depending on where they are: at home for long-form content consumption and online purchasing; on the go for checking the weather, sports scores, and social media; and at work for looking up stock quotes, online banking, and emailing” (Langlois, 2015). Second, the key trend of mobile usage is changing; at home usage is as popular as on the go usage. Third, mobile applications are the saturating stage, marketers need to provide special cares and values to retain their usage rate and engagement rage; especially for Millennial as they are the most active mobile users among different age
