Many events, people, and time create the foundation and the face of a nation. Canada is made of very little war and hatred, but more inclusivity and multiculturalism. During World War II, Canada was not on the offence to create problems and force upon change, unlike the Nazi Army who wanted maximum power. Many battles occurred during the war, in which Canada was involved in. The battle of Dieppe is on one of the deadliest battles Canada has taken part in, during the second world war, and gave Canada a reputation for being involved in the war. Since Canada supports trade with their neighbours who are seen as equal to them, which is why they are apart of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). A few examples of this would be Archie, the first ever search engine created in 1990, IMAX invented by three Canadian filmmakers (Lindeman, 2017). A couple more are Java programming language by James Gosling in 1995 which helped enhance computer and technology software, used by users worldwide. The search engine was probably the best invention the current era, because of the idea of how the internet can be interacted with, but the execution was very poor, which is why we use Google now instead, and not Archie. The very rare IMAX cameras used to create films are still used to this day around the world. This creates a significance of it in the entertainment industry, enhancing citizens lives who work in creative and film making businesses. The camera in fact is very expensive to buy or rent when used to make movies seen in theatres globally. Java programming language is another technological Canadian invention which we use on our computers, devices and phones today. In fact this essay was typed on a computer, in a program which used Java programming code, used to enhance effects, and the smooth flow of animations. These are a few Canadian inventions from 1989-2018, in which are significant to Canada today, and to countries that are affected by these inventions
