The Canadian constitution is the country's supreme law and its “blueprint” takes control over all laws within the country as it sets specific guidelines for each Canadian individual regardless of how much or little power and wealth they possess. The constitution expresses how a country governs itself, and accommodates boundaries and rules that define what is a right or wrongful action of the government ( Ualawccsprod. 2013). This overall creates balance within the country which makes it appropriate to have a constitution, because without balance there would be less values towards everything such as one's life, and freedom. An important part of the Canadian constitution is the Constitution Act ,1867 which was passed by the British Parliament and is expresses the basic structure of the government ( Ualawccsprod. 2013). This act describes how governments will divide their powers, based on which one is more appropriate to specific powers. The constitution will divide categories of laws and decide what government gets power over them. The federal government has controls to create laws regarding crime and how the provincial governments will decide on laws upon education ( Ualawccsprod. 2013).The type of government deciding what laws to create is significant to Canada because there cannot be rules made by a government that does not have the proper knowledge and power to make certain decisions that everyone will have to follow. That government will guide citizens, and if it is the wrong government chosen to decide them, it will impact all Canadian individuals in a negative way. It is common sense that somebody should only have power over something or someone if they have proper knowledge and standards about the topic of the decision that is being made. This section expresses the fundamental freedoms that apply to everybody in Canada and involves the freedom of expression, religious, thought, belief, peace assembly, and association. Furthermore this means that everybody has the freedom and right to express their beliefs and religion without being discriminated against for them. These freedoms can be used as defence against wrongful acts of all levels of government, because they are freedoms that cannot be violated and can be enforced by courts. No matter how much power the government has over people, they have no rights to violating this freedom that everybody is obligated to. Many different types of people from all different sorts of countries that follow different religions, cultures and beliefs migrate to Canada. Refugees from Iran or China are examples of two different types of people migrating to Canada, they both have different beliefs and religions such as buddhism and hinduism. The two different people with the different beliefs may not get along with each other and discriminate each other from places such as the grocery store or workplace. Moreover this section is important to the Canada as it will not allow that discrimination to be tolerated.
