As we started the school year every single student in the eighth grade dreamed of being outside of school for a week. Realizing that the philanthropy project had to do with outdoors gave more excitement. The eighth graders at UMS-Wright have been taking this trip more than five years. This week is the best time to spend time with friends while doing many activates. At Camp Grace we built many chairs to raise money for people with needs.
On Monday we left our school to experience a memorable week at Camp Grace.
As we drove up the grassy road, it presented a relaxing moment because we remained out of school for a week. When we all happily trekked off the bus, the forest scent welcomed us. When we got off the bus and to the cabins the leaves

We woke up around six each morning to get ready for the day, and to eat breakfast. For breakfast we devoured sugary cereal, cold bagels, sweet fruit, and sticky frosted honey buns. As I remained in bed I could overhear all the basketball player’s running due to the of the crunching leafs. Our purpose of coming to Camp Grace existed of helping our community by building chairs, tables, and shooting houses. My group had to build chairs, and the main tools we used involved a drill. The buzzing drills were really loud to our ears. Later that evening, we went to our cabins and got ready for dinner and our guest speaker. On Tuesday night, Craver’s seafood came all the way to Camp Grace to feed us and made fried fish. After we devoured our food, we ambled to meet our guest speaker as he enthusiastically chatted to us about what the good things that we should do with our lives and the things we should not do with our lives. The midweek at Camp Grace happened to be really tiring but after it, the rest of the week remained to be a …show more content…
After we got ready for the day, we loaded furniture as the parents came to the camp so they could deliver it to the rightful owners. Loading furniture happened to be tiring because we had to bring the chairs up and down from the giant pavilion to the cars. After loading the chairs we got in the car with our parents and took them to the owners that had bought them. After everyone drove back from giving the chairs we ate lunch and lazily trekked through the grassy plains to the wooden ropes course. The course occurred to be divided into two parts, and my group had to do the highest one. As we jumped from wood to wood we always kept falling and the harness on my back kept pinching me. After this pleasurable day, we went down the steep hill to the pavilion so we could sing karaoke. We had hired our own DJ to drive to our camp and let us sing. I could see all the smiling faces as we sang karaoke because most people are not the best at singing. Our last day at Camp Grace stood to be a day to

Grace Baptist Church kindly welcomed my attendance to the first religious service I have been to in over a decade. Each member is actively involved in the church community as well as local charities. Overall positive, the experience enlightened my comprehension of the congregation’s convictions pertaining to religious values and where they are derived from. Pleasantly greeted as well as given a compassionately farewell the members of the church treated me with the utmost respect. Nonetheless, members do not always welcome individuals nicely, such as those within the LGBTQ+ community are not readily accepted as easily.…

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

My “personal odyssey” occurred relatively recently, this past summer while I was at a sleepaway camp in New Hampshire. The last year you are eligible to come, the summer before your sophomore year, you stay in a cabin off the main camp called Cabin 12, which holds great significance due to the fact that you’re the oldest on campus, and closer to a counselor then a camper. Being engaged, on time to activities, and having extreme enthusiasm to an almost unbearable point. I was exposed to a concept, one in which you see more clearly when you grow up. This idea is embodied in the quote, “fake it ‘till you make it.”…

The sun light shown through the leaves of the forest onto the trail, the dirt on the forest floor was damp from the last days rain, roots of the trees raised from the grown like long bony fingers, the bushes that lined the trail were bright green, filled with green insects and thornes. The sound of the lake and dam grew louder as we approached the start of the trail. Holes in the middle of the trail forced us to take an alternate route into the forest. The bamboo was closely packed together making it hard to get through. After sliding in the mud and struggling to get the bikes through the stalks, we had reached the trail.…
