If you're in it for the creative satisfaction—or perhaps ultimately as a means to becoming a director—then the camera operator's job is for you. A camera operator is the one who sits behind the camera and moves it on its tripod to follow the action. The camera operator's eye sees what is being shot, which gives him an authority to call for another take if something looks wrong on a shot. Thanks to the growth of the TV industry and the addition of commercial advertising to TV, camera operators became indispensable members of the print and film industries. Directors now rely on camera operator to create the imagery they envision in their minds. And so a picture builds up of the camera operator as a skilled, creative person.

The use of visual images continues to grow in areas such as communication, education, entertainment, marketing, and research and development. More business will use video training films and public relations projects that use film. Camera operators will also be needed to help create made-for-the-Internet broadcasts: live music videos, digital movies, sports features, and general information or entertainment programming.
Educational Requirements
No qualification is necessary to get a position as a camera operator, but a film school is valuable can help expand your network connections. A bachelor's degree in liberal arts or film studies provides a good background for work in the film industry. Remember, all the time you are studying, or running for a production company—or even sweeping the studio floors somewhere—you should be using every spare hour you have taking your own photos, making your own videos, or offering your help (unpaid if necessary) to someone from whom you can learn. As with any job in broadcasting, nothing helps you better than your own
