How and Why California coast (Pacific Coast) is Eroding faster than it should and the effect of it.
I chose the California Coast or the Pacific Coast as it is one of the most popular coasts in the world. California has always been in the news for various natural disasters like forest fires, earthquakes and now Coastal erosion. California is also the World’s IT capital where all the famous companies like Google, Facebook, Apple etc are located. Many Indians migrate to california for jobs. California coast is also an EMERGENT coast as its coastline is increasing yearly.

The coastal region is getting eroded but very slowly the sea levels are rising which makes it look like it is getting eroded, rocks are getting eroded under water and also above the water level by physical, biological and chemical .
RISING SEA LEVELS are due to the warming of the Ocean which expands the sea water and this melts the ice and glacier. The satellite measurements in the last 20 years has shown that sea levels have doubled and this will only increase further.
“EL NINO” is a climate pattern where the water near the pacific ocean gets hotter and affects the atmosphere and it occurs once every few years. Instead of the waves coming in the Pacific North, they come as the south waves and it hits California, carrying moisture and storms. The California El Niño effect has increased rainfall with floods, landslides, and coastal erosion.
This is affecting the climate and hence GLOBAL WARMING increases .
POLLUTION is another key factor leading to faster erosion. California has a large population of people and most of them have vehicles this means more
