Calcium Acetate Monohydrate And Potassium Carbonate

The hypothesis of the experiment stated that if Calcium Acetate Monohydrate and Potassium Carbonate are reacted then 2.00 grams of Calcium Carbonate will be produced. The hypothesis was inaccurate and only 1.079 grams of the product was obtained. The percentage yield was only 26.5 % of the anticipated 2 grams. However, a significant error occured when the Potassium Carbonate and Calcium Acetate solution spilled on the lab table, and to reuse as much as possible the lab instructor soaked up the solution with a paper towel and squeezed it into the funnel. Thus, the mass of the product is inaccurate. The purpose of this experiment was to produce 2.00 grams of Calcium Carbonate by reacting Calcium Acetate Monohydrate and Potassium Carbonate.
