The most useful and interesting things that I have learned in this course are how to utilize the writing resources, read different types of literature and preparatory tips for CAHSEE. The writing resources are very informative, which help students to follow instructions—such as MLA format or citation guidelines. In addition, students are introduced to many wonderful literary works: short stories, novels, poems, and timeless plays of Shakespeare. Reading contributes greatly to our understanding of the writing itself and the literary devices used in it. Lastly, the tips for CAHSEE are actually practical since students can apply them to perform well, without having to struggle with long passages and

I just finished meeting with Robert & Sandra. After consulting with the Senate and UPC chair we have begrudgingly concluded that it would in the best interest of CAECO students to support the following senate motion. The retraction of the motion could result in the likelihood that CAECO majors would have only an approximately 25% chance of being able to register for their desired elective courses. It is important to note that recent history has shown that over 75% of the students enrolled in CAECO electives are non-CAECO majors. After thoughtful deliberation we felt that this would not be an appropriate risk.…

This semester in Ms. Wagner’s accelerated english class I learned many important writing techniques that massively improved my writing, like how to use TIQA format in paragraphs, how to avoid bad habits such as the use of “to be” verbs or the overuse of commas, and how to properly write a thesis statement. One of the first skills I learned this semester is how to organize my paragraphs into TIQA format. TIQA formatting is a way to set up a paragraph to keep it nice and neat. It stands for topic sentence (or transition), intro to quote, quote, and analysis. The best example of my improvement using this technique is one of the first writing pieces I did in English this year, the Book of Sands thematic paragraph.…

Writing has always been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I find it difficult to put my thoughts on a paper, especially if I have to do it in another language. Some people think that as long as they can speak a language or communicate with other people, it is enough. However, these people are totally wrong.
