C.S. Lewis's experiment describes how to define a good book and how we determine what the difference between good books and bad. There are two different types of readers, people who read for pleasure and people who find reading a chore. People who read like it is part of religion are part of the "few" and people who read because they need to are part of the many. When writing the book, Lewis describes us as part of the few. The condescending tone of Lewis creates controversy between the few and the many.
Chapter 2:

There are two different types of realism. The first type of realism is describing how people would react if an unlikely event were to happen to them. Another type of realism is where people tend to lose a sense of their surroundings when they are reading, but do not completely escape reality. Lewis described realism of presentation as "the art of bringing something close to us, making it palpable and vivid." (57) Lewis questions the readers when they think "this is what life is like."
Chapter 8:
As we grow older fiction becomes abandoned, the wonder and curiosity that we used as children faded. Lewis tells us that readers confuse the difference between life and art. Tragedians often choose stories that are impossible that is "suitable to the art that they practice"(80). When we receive art our imagination is based on the invention of the artist and art is that is used help facilitates and assist our thoughts it does not add to our life.
