C. S. Lewis The Chronicles Of Narnia

C.S. Lewis is an extraordinary writer; his book series The Chronicles of Narnia is also a series of movies that are delightful for all ages. It could be said when comparing the two versions of The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe that the book is better because it lets the reader live the story instead of just watching it. The book is so much more detailed than the movie; for example, when the protagonist, Lucy, first enters Narnia, when Edmund goes to the witch's castle, and at the end of the book and the movie there are major differences between the two of them. In the book, they describe the journey from the battle sight to the castle of Cair Paravel. The children are lead to the grand hall of the castle of Cair Paravel and are they crowned. Their story is explained with details of their reign and how they have changed over the years and then Mr. Tumnus eventually comes to tell them that the White Stag was seen in the woods. Being a wish granting stag the kings and queens decide to hunt after it. They search for white stag and stumble upon the lamppost that signals the end of Narnia, their surroundings begin to change from brush to fur. They change from adults to children again and tumble out of the wardrobe. The confused children tell the professor of their travels, the professor having been to Narnia (this being explained by the first book The Magicians Nephew) believes them and tells them not to try to go back and not to talk about it (Lewis). The movie, not having as much detail as the book, skips ahead to the castle of Cair Paravel and the crowning instead of telling the children’s journey first. After the crowning, Aslan paced along the beach and with one last bit of advice left the newly crowned Kings and Queens to rule Narnia. Mr. Tumnus comforts Lucy telling her that Aslan will return when he is needed. Skipping once again to adulthood the four Kings and Queens are in the Western Wood. Similar to the book they are chasing after the White Stag when they stumble to the lamppost at the edge of Narnia. The Kings and Queens barely recognize it until Lucy remembers "Spare Oom!" She then leads her brothers and sister farther into the woods. As the four run through the forest, they notice the brush around them no longer feeling like trees. Crammed around them are coats, not trees. With a burst of energy, they pile out of the wardrobe; not a minute went by since they entered Narnia. The professor
