Introduction
Doping, the term is used when an athlete uses prohibited or illegal drugs to improve his training & final performance. Often while talking about doping, the common drug that comes to mind is Steroids. Nonetheless …show more content…
A urine sample is provided by the athlete which is split into two bottles further sealed by the athlete. Certain code numbers are attached to the bottles to protect the anonymity of the athlete so that later on once the results arrive, there is no error or mistakes.
After the sampling, the athlete my take a medical declaration which will state all the drugs, medicines and substances which was administered to the athlete. If any of the drugs/substances are similar to the ones in the prohibited list, the athlete must hold a TUE. Lastly, the athlete and the concerning officials check the form one last time before signing it.
The urine samples then are sent to a laboratory where one of the sample(A) is tested using the process of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. If the results are found to be positive the athlete is to be notified and should be present for the testing of the other sample(B). If the second sample results to be positive too, the relevant organisations are notified and the penalties or bans will be decided to impose on the
