1.1 Introduction
As for this case study, after discussing among the group members, the public listed company that we have decided to choose from Bursa Malaysia is Malayan Banking Berhad or better known as ‘Maybank’. There are several reasons as to why our group decided to choose Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) as the company that we would like to study on. First and foremost, it is a known fact that Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) is one of the largest bank in Southeast Asia by assets (Maybank Corporate, 2014). It is ranked first among listed Malaysian companies by market capitalization has an international network of over 2,200 offices in over 20 countries (Maybank Corporate, 2014). Another reason as to why we choose Maybank is because the Maybank Group is one of the most used banking company or services by the Malaysian citizens and also by most of our group members. As to analyse the data that had been collected, some of the existing basic financial analysis tools were used for this case study. The tools that were used are trend analysis, common-size analysis, ratio analysis and cash flow analysis. In terms of ratio analysis, there are certain formulas that were used to compute the calculations. As for cash flow analysis, it will be analyse according to the activities which are the operating activities, investing activities and financing activities for the Malayan Banking Berhad
