Burmese Pythons Population

There is an increasing growth population of the Burmese python and this means certain animals will be killed and become extinct. The Everglades National Park Service has joined forces with other agencies to create ways for lowering the growing population of Burmese pythons. Scientists and researchers have collected data and analyzed the results that help to find ways of diminishing the Burmese population. The National Everglades Park has joined forces with The University of Florida. The United States National Park Service (USNPS), the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as, South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) have joined forces. University of Florida researchers will continue to use thermal research to determine how pythons are using the ecosystem of the park. This method is also used to find groups of pythons during the breeding season. Pythons are being tracked daily for a few days after release once a week. Capture and Removal Researchers know where Burmese pythons are, what types of habitats they use, and how they move. Capture and removal efforts now include Pythons and all python nests found in South Florida will get destroyed. The major goal of the investigation is for invasive snake management to include prevention, eradication, containment, and reduction. Unfortunately, it is too late to prevent the invasion of Burmese pythons. Dealing with established species requires that we understand their extent, behavior, potential ecological impacts, and how to remove them. The research described in this paper hopes to provide answers to these critical questions.
