Subsequently, bullying goes beyond a current social issue, but rather a phenomenon that has been manifested since recorded history. Reference to bullying, violence and aggressive behaviors can be seen in the bible and early literature from the 19th and 20th century. It depicted the social nature of bullying and was understood as survival of the fittest or a sense of competition to surpass others. Peer on peer harassment was commonly seen as innocent and a normal part of growing up. The term ‘bullying’ was misconstrued and vague.
