Bullying can be shown in more ways than one. There are physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying. Many people know that these types of bullying cannot only hurt someone’s feelings, but could also reach a point where someone would harm himself or herself. The victims that go through bullying deal with self-harm in many ways and most people know that they can get help or tell an adult. While it is important to understand the impact on bullies on its victims, it is also important to think about the consequences that the bully should face. For example, in the year of 2012 in the upstate of New York, a bus monitor named Karen Klein was being bullied on the bus. The four boys who were taunting her are now suspended and have to do community service for senior citizens for at least fifty hours (“Students” pg.1). The consequence of being suspended causes these students to recognize that their actions were not going to be tolerated and that this type of behavior is inappropriate. From their punishment they learned to take responsibility and the students put on a fundraiser for Klein. They raised over $667,304 for Klein to go on a nice vacation. Facing these consequences will allow students to learn from their mistakes. If society does not stop bullying now, it may not ever stop. The percentages are rising, and people in the community could become emotionally or physically hurt. As a society, individuals need to change their social values and challenge themselves in a way people live, think, and socialize to put bullying to a stop.
