From the beginning of recorded history, humanity has proven themselves to be strong. From destroying towns during the stone ages to winning a wrestling match in modern-day.
Most importantly, the practice of bullet ant gloves has a negative impact on the community because it leads to health problems. For example, the bullet ant’s poison can paralyze someone’s hand (“The Pain”). Not only does this cause paralysis, children must do it over twenty times to become a man (“The Pain”). This makes it very likely for someone to get injured. Bullet ants are ranked on a one to four scale, a four on how bad the sting hurts and what it does to people. The ant bites cause immense pain that can cause scars and welts. "without suffering anything or without any kind of effort” isn’t worth anything at all (“Brazilian Tribe”). The people doing the tradition have to keep the glove on for 10 minutes before they can take it off. After you take the gloves off the people can’t get any of the poison out and can’t use anything to help them(“The Pain”). Boy’s as young as 12 years old have to do this tradition. Since the boy’s are so young they aren’t strong enough to take the pain, so they cry. Every time they do the tradition and cry, they have to do it again, causing them to get more hurt and more scars(“Becoming a Man”).
