But there is a cold side to this. The needed workers were slaves. Between 1500 and 1800, more than 12 million people were sold as slaves from Africa and historians estimate that about twenty percent of slaves that were sold into slavery died on the ships. African Leaders traded people that they captured during a tribal warfare and also people who broke their laws.

The British also brought slaves from a group of people called the ‘Black Traders.’ The Black Traders sometimes even kidnapped Africans to sell them as slaves.

Technology, trade and work are some of the aspects that affected Britain throughout the Industrial Revolution. Technologies improved and it made people’s lives easier. Trades happened and Britain got more resources and more powerful across the world. People got more jobs because work changed. But there were bad effects as well, like slavery and child labour starting. And machines making people lose their
