The story starts with Clary and her best friend, Simon, in the Pandemonium Club, when Clary sees a blue-haired boy and a gorgeous girl, wearing a large red pendant that hung around her neck, enter a storage room together with two boys following close behind. She then enters the storage room herself to see the group tie and kill the blue-haired boy, saying that they’re shadowhunters dealing with a demon and mundanes shouldn’t get involved. Clary thinks they’re mad, but is confused as the “demon” vanished after being hit with the boy’s knife and that she is the only person who is able to see the group. The next day, Clary is confronted by her mother, Jocelyn, who exclaims that she, Clary, and her surrogate uncle, Luke, will stay in his farmhouse …show more content…
Soon, Clary manages to escape from her trap and pursue Hodge into an alleyway, where Hodge attacks her if she doesn’t retreat, but she is saved from a werewolf. The werewolf turns out to be Luke as he explains about his past with Clary’s mother and Valentine, his transformation into a werewolf, and the Uprising, where the Circle failed to murder the Downworlders when the treaty between them and the Shadowhunters was to be renewed. Luke and Clary further discuss where Valentine’s hideout is, and they deduce it’s Renwick, the old abandoned hospital and the ex-home of an old Shadowhunter family. Luke gathers his pack to attack the Forsaken guarding the hideout as they make their way in there while Clary goes off to find her mother and Jace. Luke and Clary sees her mother unconscious and she quickly moves out to find Jace once Luke fights Pangborn and Blackwell. She enters a room and meets Jace who is perfectly fine, and she is shocked to find out he is Valentine’s son and her brother. Valentine tries to manipulate and convinces Clary and Jace to join his side by saying that Downworlders are monsters and the world should be pure of Shadowhunters, not the useless mundanes or disgusting Downworlders. He is about to kill Luke as he orders Jace to restrain Clary, but Clary manages to knock Jace back to senses that family is not defined by blood, but by bond. Jace refuses to follow Valentine, and Luke is freed, but Valentine, furious, kills Luke’s second in command and escapes into the portal with the Cup, tempting Jace to kill him. When Jace is indecisive between killing or sparing Valentine, Valentine smashes the portal as he leaves. It is implied to be a day after the incident when Clary visits her unconscious mother in the hospital. She returns to the Institute to reconcile with Isabelle, who gushes about Magnus healing Alec, and Clary and Alec break their hostile tension and become friends. Clary walks up to

The episode “Hush” is one of the most critically acclaimed episodes in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. This episode from the fourth season of the series lacked an in-depth dialogue but rather used imagery and other literary elements for support. This lack of dialogue conveys a symbolic meaning throughout the episode through the interactions between the main characters. The interactions between Tara and Willow, Riley and Buffy, and Xander and Anya all have a symbolic meaning which supports the theme of the episode. The episode “Hush” symbolizes that, ironically, expressing feelings can be more readily done without forced communication.…
