The movie bridge of spies which is based on a true story is in the period of cold war, and about espionage. Using spies and spying on the opposite country became part of the Cold War game. Both sides used spies to aid finding out of what the other was doing faster and easier. It was an extremely dangerous job and many of the spies knew the high risk of betrayal or making an error is execution, if they were lucky they would be exchanged for other spies. This helped Abel’s case, for the procedure of spy exchange. The American plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers was shot down. Powers was held captive by the Soviets, until 10th of February, 1962. The exchange happened, which was arranged by James B. Donovan on the Glienicke Bridge. The Soviet Union had originally sentenced Powers to ten years. CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers was on a mission to secretly photograph Russian military locations. His U-2 spy plane could reach heights of 70,000 feet, which they thought it would be too high for Soviet surface-to-air missiles or fighter planes. However, the united States were unaware that the Russians had been improving their range of their missiles to fight the meddling of spy planes in their airspace.
