In their first meeting, he immediately becomes skeptical of Brian’s ability to complete the job, saying “[k]id like you wouldn’t even last a day” (73). Despite the odds, though, Wes’ judgement is proven wrong and Brian is able to perform the task, wonderfully. However, Wes continues to nag and belittle Brian during the job; offering him almost no respect, even as Brian strives to work hard for him. For instance, Wes says “You young punks, you’re all the same, soft. Not like me when I was your age” when he catches Brian taking a breather, after one hour of shovelling gravel (75).…

One reason proving Brian turns into things to get away from people is, in the story it said “Brian knew the answer from the question, but the teacher never called on him so he didn’t even bother to raise his hand.” Then moments after that he turned into a frisbee to get away from people because they were ignoring him. This shows that, Brian is so hurt from being ignored, he turns into things so people can’t ignore him. In addition, when Brian turns into things no one notices not even people sitting right next to him. This shows how much people ignore him and how lonely he is.…

Later when Brian is telling Jeanette about his outing with Rex, he tells her all about Ginger, and how Rex also made Brina give his comic book to Ginger. Brian is very upset by the fact that Ginger now has his comic book, and remarks, “Brian had taken such a powerful dislike to Ginger…. I wondered if he had figured out something about Ginger….”(79-80). Brian was able to logically reason through what was going on between Rex and Ginger, and he was able to put the missing pieces of the puzzle together. This ability to logically reason through such a complex and mature situation would help Brian to survive the Hunger Games because he would be able to work through and logically…

To remake “Keith” into a Shakespearean Tragedy I would first make more chance happenings occur between Keith and Barbara before they become lab partners. Adding more chance happenings to “Keith” would give the story more depth and history to help explain more of the ending and why she agreed to meet him at all these different places when he was, considered to her and her posse “an oddball”. The second area I will look at is the internal conflict Barbara, Keith and Brian will develop. I will, to make it more of a tragedy, make Barbara feel more internal conflict over Keith and what that means for her. These changes would make “Keith” more unpredictable and establish a foundation for the story to build off of, instead of an abrupt beginning and a feeling of an incomplete conclusion.…
