1. Incidence and Factors influencing the cancer
Cancer is an abnormal proliferation and uncontrolled growth of cells. If the growth and thus spread of disease is not controlled, can lead to death of the individual. The control of cancer is challenging to the healthcare system in terms of decreasing the incidence and mortality. However, the mortality rate was marginally decreased in United States (Cancer, 2015). There exist numerous cancers reported including lung and bronchi, breast, prostate, stomach, liver, vaginal, pancreas, colon and rectum. Among the cancers, prostate cancers (26%) and breast cancers (29%) were reported respectively in men and woman. Lung and bronchus cancers took second most cancer in terms of incidence. Development of an intervention plan for the cancer
The incidence and thus mortality can be decreased by developing a systematic plan in the management cancer. The main goal is to develop plan based on the evidences in order to provide treatment for all types of cancer. Emphasis should be given to towards the lung cancer and breast cancer as they are dominant types among the cancers in terms of incidence. The following points should included in the plan
Identifications factors contributing for cancer: Ask the patient and their caregivers for the history and to understand the factors. People who live in poor socio-economic conditions are in general are not aware of the complications of the disease. Therefore collect the patient history. It would help in providing recommendations in disease management. Also focus on family history, whether any one form their family suffered from cancer? (Carolyn, 2015)
Early diagnosis: It would help in controlling the cancer and decreases the mortality rate
Treatment: Adequate and appropriate treatment is desired. The treatment may be ranging from surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immune therapy, and targeted therapy (drugs that specifically interfere with cancer cell
