Brazil is the largest country of South America and the fifth largest of the world. Its total area is approximately 8,514,877 square kilometers which is 3,287,564 square miles. It is on the Eastern part of the continent and it borders the Atlantic Ocean with a coastline of 7,491 km. In addition, Brazil also borders all countries of South America except for Chile and Ecuador. The topography consists of a flat surface with gently sloping lowland, and some mountains and rounded hills as well. Some natural resources of the country are nickel, gold, petroleum, hydropower, among others. Brazil sometimes experiences drought in the north and flood in the south as its natural hazardous. (www.cialgov). Brazil holds most of the Amazon River which is the world’s most extensive river and the largest virgin rainforest. The climate is mostly humid tropical but it is considerable variable due to its topography variations. We can also find a temperate and subtropical climate among others climate subtypes.
