The first shot was fired, one was already dead and in a moments notice eleven colonists were shot and five colonists killed by British soldiers. The British had done it, they had created the Boston Massacre. The increase on taxes and the Quartering Act put in place by the British, made the colonists outraged and that led them to protest against Great Britain. A major action that the colonists took was the Boston Tea Party, this was when the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Indians and went on multiple ships to dump out all the tea to protest the taxes. The colonists also took the action of putting tar and chicken feathers on British tax collectors to show disapproval of taxation. It started because of the taxes with tea, and the colonists did not approve of them. The Sons of Liberty led this attack, which happened December 16, 1773. The Sons of Liberty dressed as Indians and went onto ships that were carrying tea, and dumped all the tea from multiple ships into the Boston harbor. This made the British furious, so they made new taxes and laws to punish the colonists such as the Intolerable Acts (Doc 4). Britain made the Intolerable Acts, which had many consequences. One part of the act was the port of Boston, it was closed until all the destroyed tea was paid for. Another part of the act was that the royal governor could ban town meetings. The British made these acts as a retaliation to the Boston Tea Party. These acts made it harder for the colonists to live, which led them to want freedom even more. There were many protests, but the biggest one was the one that caused the Boston Massacre. The colonists had been throwing different things at the British soldiers. That caused the soldiers to shoot into the crowd, only because they became frightened. They had shot eleven people and killed five of them. Paul Revere called this incident a massacre to make the colonists loathe the British and fight more for their freedom. Revere’s historic engraving was propaganda rather than a historical fact.
