At the beginning of a he semester we set in class for 30 minutes and did nothing. We did not have electronics nor could we talk to each other. The goal was for us to be bored. In the mist of this experiment I tried to find ways to entertain myself. I sang, cracked jokes in my head, and I even found myself asleep on the floor. Yes you can say I was bored. Then I would let the pen flow and create a concise queen paper. Initially I would create bullet points and ramble and by paper would not be centered around my topic. I never focused too much on audience while writing. I write for myself and from there it's a heart to hear connection. I always wrote with a purpose on major assignments and I generally used a passive voice, because that's the way I talk.
The DK Handbook was the most helpful, so we're peer reviews. It allowed me to see other people's writing styles. It made me more comfortable knowing that other people were making the same mistakes as I was. The story Where are You Going Where Have You Been, help me understand stand how exploration within boredom was a dangerous thing, but the assignment was difficult I had to go deeper than what was on the surface, by explaining why "exploration for women can be dangerous".
