First, there needs to be enough border patrol agents to monitor and safeguard the thousands of miles of border stretching across the northern and southern parts of the country. Recruiting enough agents has been an issue. Also, government funding needs to be available to purchase the technology and equipment required to detect individuals trying to illegally cross the border.
