The novel Peak is about a 14 year old boy named Peak Marcelo who travels to mt.Everest with his somewhat estranged father Josh, because he had trouble with the law in his home new York because he was climbing a skyscraper. Peak realizes later in the book though that his father only took him in because he wanted the boy to be the youngest to climb mt.Everest. With his father joshes help and his Nepalese friends Sun-Jo and Sun-Jo's wise grandfather Zopa they reach the summit where peak makes the decision to give sun-jp the glory of reaching the top because Sun-Jo had a greater reason to retch the top.
Peak Marcelo starts of as a selfish character but over time realizes unconsciously how some actions and decisions he made were selfish and became remorseful, then transitions into a character who is more of a selfless character. …show more content…
This is shown from the fact that he climbs a skyscraper in new york which is against the law without thinking how his actions would affect his family. Another example is when Peak was in jail talking to his teacher about school Peak did not seem to think that him climbing the skyscraper affected his family negatively. Lastly Peak showed how he could be a highly selfish character when his dad Josh decides to not bring him to the summit because all the other climbers were there before him and had payed money. Peak did not care about the other campers, and how they had payed money to climb and he was just brought here and kind of intruding on their climb. Peak seemed to be thinking of himself in a way. “Wait a second that's not fair! I worked just as hard as anyone to get to camp four!”
