Make Love Not War The idea of “Sexuality” has many different definitions. Merriam-Webster describes sexuality as “the quality or state of being sexual: the condition of having sex, sexual activity, and the expression of sexual receptivity or interest especially when excessive.” Sexuality involves many factors such as physical, emotional, and biological behaviors or actions. When it comes to animals and other species, humans like to feel uniquely superior. However, when it comes to sexuality, people are not as different in comparison to animals as they seem to think.
One of the many ways that sexuality is not uniquely human is the concept that sex can be beyond procreation in nature. Sexual intimacy has many helpful purposes besides procreation. …show more content…
For example, Isabella Rossellini talks about how shrimp prepare to mate in her video “Bon Appetite- shrimp”. In this video she states how female shrimp shed their outer shell and get “naked” in preparation for sex as humans do. Furthermore, one major similarities between humans and nature is the act of masturbation. Many animals masturbate such as monkeys, Elephants, Walruses, squirrels, dogs and even Turtles.
