The adult skeletal system has 206 bones,well as the network of many tendons, ligaments and cartilage. They perform many of functions in your body, it supports, creates movement, protection, your blood cell production, your calcium storage and the endocrine regulation. Bones in our body support us and protect us. The bones of the legs, pelvis, Are back hold up the body to maintain are posture, the jaw supports the teeth, mostly all the bones in our body support our muscles and tendons in our body. They also protect our brain, spinal cord, lungs, heart, pelvic viscera, and your bone marrow it also provides support and attachment of your arms and legs. Long bones are also as the Femur, Humerus, and the Tibia. The smallest bones in our body called Metacarpals, Metatarsals, and Phalanges. Short bones are providing a function of providing support and stability with little movement, the wrist and foot bones are examples of short bones. They consist of only and thin layer of compact, hard bone with cancellous bone on the inside along with a relatively large amounts of bone marrow. Flat bones are strong, sound bones that have a main function of providing protection to the body's vital organs and being a base for are muscular attachment. Examples of a flat bone is a Scapula which is your shoulder blade. The sternum your breastbone, your Cranium, your skull, also your Pelvis and some ribs are also classified as flat bones to. Werid bones are bones that don't fall into any other category, due to their non-uniform shape examples are your jaw, it consists of this thin layer of bone, with a thin outer layer of compact bone. Small bones are usually short or weird bones, in a tendon. A bone is hard tissue that forms the skeletal structure and other bone, cartilage in comparison, isn't as hard and rigid as bone its more of a spongy and soft kind of skin. Bones are either compact or spongy to support our body's, there are 3 types of cartilage. The function of the bone helps protect the body against mechanical damage, assist in the movement of the body, provide a framework and shape for the body, store minerals and vitamins , and produce red blood & white blood cells that help our bodies . The function of the cartilage helps reducing friction at joints, acting as shock absorbers between weight-bearing bones, and the shape and flexibility of fleshy appendages. The location of bones make up the axial and appendicular skeleton cartilage is a much softer, and spongier component that is mostly found in between joints of bones, and in a few other place where flexibility is
