Bobby is a periodic American drama written and directed by actor and director Emilio Estevez in 2006. It covers the historic murder of the U.S senator Robert F. Kennedy during the primary presidential bid on June 4, 1968, at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The movie makes an effort to portray the large hidden aspect of American society during the 1960s. Bobby presents the daily lives of the hotel staffs and shows how they affected by their race, the relation between blacks, whites, and Mexicans. In the movie, a young couple is depicted who is about to get married as part of anti- war effort, employees that are not allowed to go for casting vote due to racial discriminations, and two campaign staff members that have trip on LSD due to the saturation the drug had in all sides of society …show more content…
Bobby also presents how the changes in the society was having impact on the individual lives by depicting the cheating on his wife by a man due to the changes in viewpoint on divorce and marriage. A lounge singer is also shown that is on the downhill slide where other guys were fired for racism. In addition, there is also the senior staff member discussing the twilight of their lives over games of chess and employees dealing with marital relations during work time. Although it all reflects essences of troubled times and hopes of optimism, the movie does a good job of showing the way drugs and racism. In the movie, the scene of the drug moves from Mexico, as most people “began experimenting with hallucinogenic mushrooms in Mexico and soon moved on to LSD” (821). Bobby successfully portrays the same values and actions of Robert F. Kennedy, as it depicts his tries to push his ideas forward in an attempt to make a better society
