Boba Research Paper

Boba is a popular ingredient for many desserts in Asian countries. However, in the United States, boba is rarely used in foods that people consume on a daily basis. Boba is not usually eaten by itself; it can be added to tea or smoothies. It can also be used as the main ingredient for a sweet soup. Having grown up in Taiwan, the country where boba milk tea was invented, I love boba and have eaten boba for many years. It is a treat that I often crave in America, but I have discovered that boba is quite simple to make. Drinks containing boba that are sold in stores are not very healthy because stores have a propensity to use drink mixes and artificial flavoring. By making boba at home, I could ensure that my boba is fresh and healthy to consume. …show more content…
Boba is made from cooking tapioca. Tapioca may be slightly difficult to find in the typical American supermarket, but they should be available in Asian supermarkets. I bought a bag of tapioca from the local Vietnamese supermarket. Since I was only planning on adding the boba to about three cups of milk tea, I chose to buy a small bag of tapioca. Additionally, I bought some black tea bags, sugar, and milk to make the milk tea. I already had brown sugar, honey, a pot with a lid, a tea kettle, cooking spoons, measuring cups, cups, bowls, and spoons at home, so I did not have to purchase these …show more content…
I filled a pot two-thirds full with tap water, put the lid on the pot, and placed the pot on the stove. I then filled the tea kettle with drinking water and set it on the stove. I turned the heat for both the pot and the tea kettle to medium-high, and waited for the water to boil. As I waited for the the water to boil, I poured out half a bowl of brown sugar and one-fourth of a bowl of honey and placed them on the side. When the water in the tea kettle boiled, I turned the heat off. When the water in the pot boiled, I removed the lid. Then, with a measuring cup, I poured one cup of tapioca into the pot of water. I stirred the tapioca occasionally as it was cooking. Eventually, all the tapioca floated to the top. I turned the heat to medium and let it cook for thirty minutes. I stirred the boba every three minutes.
As the boba was being cooked, I prepared the milk tea that I wanted to add some of the boba into. I placed a black tea bag into a cup and poured hot water from the kettle into three cups so that each was half-filled. I waited for three minutes. After that, I sweetened the tea by adding some sugar and stirring with a spoon. When the sugar dissolved, I added milk to each cup of tea so that each cup was three-fourths full. I removed the tea bag after ten minutes. The milk tea was set aside to

The Thermodynamics of Potassium Nitrate Dissolving in Water Introduction: This experiment focuses on thermodynamics or the study of heat and molecular randomness. It helps illustrate how and why potassium nitrate (KNO3) dissolves in water. When it dissolves, it dissociates into potassium (K+) and nitrate (NO3-) ions. These ions can also recombine into solid potassium nitrate. This reaction can reach a state where concentrations of ions remain constant or Ksp; which stands for the equilibrium concentration for the solubility product.…
